How I Create the Pendants for Eleanor Rhea & Co.
One of the most distinctive elements of many Eleanor Rhea necklaces is the handmade pendant. Each pendant begins as a carefully shaped clay form, allowing every piece to develop its own organic character and subtle variations.
After the clay is shaped, molded and cured, the pendant is individually hand painted. This step allows me to introduce color, pattern, and depth, often inspired by travel, nature, and timeless decorative motifs.
Once the painting is complete, the pendant is finished with a layer of resin that enhances the color and creates a beautiful, glass-like finish. Resin is used to protect and enrich the design allowing the original form and hand-painted details to remain visible yet protected.
Because each pendant is shaped and painted by hand, no two are exactly alike. Slight variations in texture, color, and form are part of what make each necklace truly one of a kind.
After the pendant is finished, it is paired with carefully selected natural gemstones and completed with a signature toggle clasp, which I love for both its simplicity and ease of wear. Below is a photo of the pendants as they cure.
